Purpose: Galgotias University aspires to be a leader in environmental sustainability and climate action, fostering a culture of responsibility and innovation within the university community. The purpose of the policy is:

• Reduce the University's environmental impact through operational efficiency and resource conservation.
• Integrate sustainability principles into academics, research, and outreach activities.
• Foster collaboration with stakeholders to promote a sustainable future.

Key Action Areas

Energy Management:

• Implement energy-saving measures in buildings (e.g., LED lighting, improved insulation).
• Increase reliance on renewable energy sources like solar power.
• Promote energy-efficient appliances and equipment.
• Develop and implement an energy conservation awareness program for the university community.

Water Conservation:

• Implement water-saving measures in buildings and landscaping.
• Promote water reuse and rainwater harvesting practices.
• Raise awareness about water conservation through educational campaigns.

Waste Management:

• Minimize waste generation through responsible consumption and procurement practices.
• Implement a comprehensive waste segregation and recycling program.
• Explore composting options for organic waste.
• Partner with local waste management authorities for responsible disposal of non-recyclable waste.

Sustainable Transportation:

• Encourage sustainable commuting options like cycling, walking, carpooling, and public transportation.
