About the Programme

The BA (Hons. with Research) in Film Production and Theatre is a 4-year undergraduate programme me designed for students passionate about cinema and performing arts. Aligned with NEP 2020, it offers a balanced blend of creative practice and academic inquiry, with special focus on direction, acting, cinematography, screenwriting, and stagecraft.

Students receive hands-on training through film shoots, theatre productions, workshops, and internships, along with interdisciplinary courses, skill enhancement modules, and value-added learning. In the final year, those securing a CGPA of 7.5 or above may opt for a research project or dissertation, guided by faculty, to explore specialized topics within film and theatre.

Graduates are equipped for diverse roles in the film industry, theatre, television, OTT platforms, and higher studies or research, with a strong foundation in both artistic and scholarly approaches to storytelling.

To cultivate creative professionals with strong storytelling, performance, and technical skills across film and theatre production.

Programme Outcomes

Technical know-how: In-depth, hands-on across the key disciplines of filmmaking and theatre: Directing, Screenwriting, Cinematography, Sound, Editing, Production (including Production Design) and 1st Assistant Directing.

Writing Script: Practical training for script writing for niche audience across the genre for films and theatre production.

Training: Practicing film & Theatre work with industry experts teaching up-to date skills using industry standard equipment and software.

Art of Film-making: Developing filmmaking practice while acquiring skills for professional work in the creative industries of film and theatre.

Modern tool usage: Hands – on training over the software and tools used in industry.

Project management and finance: Synthesize knowledge and understanding of the films and communication principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage core art projects and in multidisciplinary environments.

Environment and sustainability: Elaborate the impact of the professional art performer and communication solutions for societal and environmental contexts; demonstrate the creative knowledge for promotion of sustainable development.
