Event Date: 28th September 2024

Legal Aid Clinic and Pro Bono Club of School of Law, Galgotias University, organized a cleanliness drive at Surajpur District Court. The event aimed to raise environmental awareness and help keep public spaces clean. The students, equipped with brooms, dustpans, gloves, and garbage bags, gathered early in the morning. They divided themselves into groups and each group was responsible for cleaning different areas around the court premises, such as the parking lot, pathways, and garden spaces.

During the drive, the students picked up litter, swept the grounds, and ensured all waste was collected and disposed of in an environmentally-friendly way. They also took the time to interact with visitors and court staff, reminding them to keep the area clean and use trash bins for waste disposal. The drive was not just about cleaning but also about learning and teamwork. It brought the students together to work towards a common goal, promoting responsibility and community engagement. The event ended with a short street play (natak), where students talked about the importance of keeping public spaces clean and the role everyone plays in protecting the environment. By the end of the drive, the court premises looked much cleaner, and the students pledged to continue their efforts in promoting cleanliness and environmental conservation in the future.

They divided into small groups, with each group assigned to clean different areas around the court, such as the parking lot, pathways, and garden areas. Throughout the drive, the students worked together, picking up litter, sweeping the grounds, and disposing of the waste responsibly. As they worked, they also spoke to court visitors and staff, encouraging them to use trash bins and help keep the area clean. After the cleaning activities, the students performed a short street play (natak) that highlighted the importance of maintaining cleanliness in public places. The play carried a simple but powerful message, reminding everyone that it is everyone's duty to keep public spaces clean, not just the responsibility of the authorities. The play attracted the attention of court visitors, who appreciated the students' efforts and the message they conveyed. At the end of the drive, the students gathered to take a pledge, promising to continue contributing to environmental conservation and keeping public spaces clean. They expressed their commitment to making cleanliness a habit, not just a one-time effort. The event concluded on a positive note, with students feeling proud of their contribution to the community and motivated to organize more such drives in the future. This cleanliness drive not only improved the court surroundings but also left a lasting impact on the students and the people who witnessed the effort, inspiring everyone to take responsibility for the environment. The Legal Aid Clinic and Pro Bono Club of Galgotias University plan to conduct more similar initiatives to continue spreading awareness about the importance of environmental conservation and to encourage others to do their part in keeping public spaces clean. The drive demonstrated how small actions, when done collectively, can lead to positive changes in society, fostering a culture of cleanliness, responsibility, and community service.
