Soil Testing for Farmers by Galgotias University on World Environment Day 2024
Event Date: 05th June 2024
To commemorate World Environment Day 2024, Galgotias University offered free soil
testing services for farmers, aligning with the global theme of “Ecosystem Restoration.” This
initiative underscores the university's dedication to enhancing soil health and promoting
sustainable agricultural practices. By providing detailed soil health insights, Galgotias
University aims to empower farmers to make informed decisions that contribute to the
revitalization and sustainability of local ecosystems.
Galgotias University actively invited local farmers to participate in this beneficial initiative.
In collaboration, they are taking significant steps toward restoring ecosystems and securing a
sustainable future for agriculture. Dr. Vineet Kumar and Dr. Pradip Tripura, esteemed Soil
Scientists from the School of Agriculture, received 40 soil samples from nearby villages in
Gautam Budh Nagar, including Falaida, Kanarsa, Rubabpura, and Junaidpur. Farmers either
brought their soil samples directly to the university or left them with the village sarpanch for
collection. The university effectively disseminated information about the initiative through
village sarpanches and WhatsApp groups, connecting with around 650 farmers.
The initiative received high praise, particularly from the Sarpanch of Kanarsa, who thanked
Galgotias University for its continued community engagement efforts benefiting local
farmers.
