Capacity Building Program Report 

Date: 13th December 2024 (Day-1)

The opening session of the program was marked by lighting of the lamp and brief introduction to Galgotias University. Thereafter, an inspiring presentation was made by Hon.Vice Chancellor of Galgotias University, Dr K.M. Babu, who highlighted the significance of continuous professional development for academic leaders and the university’s commitment to academic excellence. The Vice Chancellor also emphasized how the leadership journey is essential for the overall growth of higher education institutions. He informed about the success journey of Galgotias University to all the participants.

Dr. Bala emphasized that fostering a robust research culture is crucial for academic excellence. The session provided actionable steps for increasing research output, improving faculty involvement in research, and ensuring that research contributes to the societal and global knowledge pool. She also spoke about having a robust research plan for research to flourish. 

Excellence in Academic Administration

Dr. Gaur’s session was engaging, emphasizing the essential leadership and administrative skills needed to run educational institutions effectively. Participants were introduced to key tools and strategies to streamline academic administration, improve organizational efficiency, and ensure the academic success of students. 

Leadership Visioning and Action 

Speaker: Dr. RenuLuthra, Advisor to Chancellor

Dr. Luthra facilitated an interactive session where participants engaged in exercises to create actionable leadership visions. The session aimed at encouraging leaders to proactively shape the future of their institutions. 

Experiencing Active Learning Ecosystem 

Speaker: Dr. Sanjeev Kumar

The concept of active learning and its relevance in modern educational settings.

Tools and methods to create an engaging and participatory learning environment.

How to integrate technology and innovative teaching techniques to enhance student learning outcomes. 

The benefits of experiential learning and its impact on student engagement and retention.

Dr. Kumar’s session was hands-on, allowing participants to experience various active learning strategies through demonstrations and practical activities. The session emphasized the importance of creating a dynamic learning environment that encourages critical thinking and student participation. The participants were impressed by the idea of active learning and expressed their desire to learn more and implement some of it in their academic system. 

Conclusion and Closing Remarks 

The first day of the program concluded with closing remarks from Dr Jagannath Mohanty, who summarized the key insights from the day. He encouraged participants to implement the strategies learned in their respective roles and highlighted the ongoing support available for the leaders throughout the program. The first day ended with a lot of positive inputs from the participants, they clearly expressed their willingness to extend the collaboration and help in implementing some of the policies and practices we apply here.

Date: 14th December 2024 (Day-2)

All participants visited Panchsheel Balak Inter College, Sector-91, Noida on second day of Capacity Building Program. The objective of the visit was to explore the secondary education system in India. After formal welcome by the school Principal Dr. Neeraj Tandon, he briefed about the school. Mr. Ramesh Kumar, Senior Advisor of the World Association for Small and Medium Enterprises discussed to the delegates how to inculcate skills and innovation in the students to make them industry ready and self employed. He also briefed about the process to implement skills in education system. Use of Atal Tinkering Labs in skills development also told to delegates. 

The delegates had several queries, which the school principal tried to address. A visit to various labs also organised by the school and briefed about their use in learning. School students explained about their projects. Delegates visited Heritage lab, Music lab, Biology lab, English learning lab and ATL labs. The delegates expressed their satisfaction the way the schools are run by the Govt.

The delegates returned to the University at 2:30 and after Lunch they were taken on campus visit by Dr. Sunita Yadav to the Apple labs, she explained the genesis of the Apple centre and how students are constantly innovating to make lives better. Subsequently the delegates were taken to the Smart India Hackathon. They found the entire engagement and the efforts by young students to solve common problems very inspiring. Next they were taken to the C Block for visiting the Computer Science School. 

During campus visit, School of Agriculture hosted a delegation from the Ministry of Education, Republic of Madagascar. The visit provided an opportunity for knowledge exchange and insights into agricultural education in India and Madagascar.

The delegation was introduced to the academic programmes and curriculum offered by the School of Agriculture, with a focus on its innovative, student centric teaching methods. During the visit to different facilities, the delegates were shown the experimental farm, greenhouse, polyhouse, vermicompost unit, and herbal garden. Contribution of each facility available at school to experiential learning and the development of practical skills among students was conveyed to the delegation. 

Particular attention was drawn to the emphasis of the School on indigenous knowledge and integrated pest management techniques. These approaches rely on zero-pesticide solutions and align with the principles of eco-friendly and sustainable agriculture. 

The visit concluded with a heartfelt acknowledgment from the head of the delegation, who commended the school for the dedication to sustainable agricultural practices and its integration of theoretical and practical learning for the benefit of the students. 

Subsequently the team visited the facilities and labs of School of Allied Health Sciences. Dr. Shagun Agarwal has briefed all the participants about the courses offered in School of Allied Health & Science. He has taken the participants to the practical lab and clinical facility to show the strength of the program. 

Mr. Sudhanshu Sharma discussed the university examination system in detail to inform the participants about the University’s student evaluation system.

Third day started with the visit of the participants to Electronics Engineering Department. Dr. Sudheer Kumar Singh explored the latest trends, innovations, and research in the field of Electronics, equipping participants with the knowledge to integrate new technologies into their academic curriculum and research. 

Next session was taken by Dr. Jagannath Mohanty (Dean-SOB). He provided an in-depth understanding of the changing dynamics of business management in today’s globalized economy and the emerging trends in leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurship along with the program details in School of Business. He discussed about how the School of Business is developing the professionals as per the global needs. 

Session on "Academic Management through ERP and iCloud" was taken by Dr. Anurag Singh. He introduced participants to the integration of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems and cloud-based solutions (iCloud) in the academic management domain, ensuring smooth and efficient educational administration. 

Key Highlights: 

Introduction to ERP Systems: Dr. Singh explained how ERP solutions streamline various administrative tasks such as student information management, course scheduling, and financial tracking. 

Cloud Technology in Education: The role of cloud computing (iCloud) in facilitating collaboration, data storage, and real-time communication among students, faculty, and administrative staff was highlighted.

Benefits for Institutions: Dr. Singh outlined the advantages of adopting these technologies, including improved decision-making, cost savings, and enhanced student experience. 

Practical Demonstration: The session included a demonstration of how ERP systems and iCloud platforms can be used for day-to-day academic management tasks. 

Participants left the event better equipped to integrate new technological trends into their professional environments, driving innovation in their respective fields. The program facilitated networking, knowledge exchange, and hands-on learning, providing a platform for ongoing academic and professional development. 

3 Days Capacity Building Program ended with Memento and certificate Distribution to all the participants by Hon.Vice Chancellor, Pro Vice Chancellor, Dr Jagannathy Mohanty (Dean SOB), Dr. Lalit Kumar Sharma (Associate Dean-UG) and Dr Anamika Pandey (Associate Dean).
