Nutrition day camp

Legal Aid Clinic and Pro Bono Club of the School of Law, Galgotias University, organized an awareness event at Sakhi One Stop in Noida, Sector 62. This initiative was designed to benefit girls aged between 7 and 19 years, and it successfully reached over 40 participants. The event was conducted under the guidance of Ms. Richa Upadhyay, the Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA). With her support, the event aimed to empower young girls by providing them with essential knowledge about nutrition, self-defense, safety, and hygiene. The event began with an informative session led by the legal aid volunteers, who spoke about the importance of nutrition. This session highlighted the importance of National Nutrition Week, explaining how proper nutrition plays a vital role in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, especially for growing girls. The volunteers used simple language and examples to make sure the younger audience could understand better. They discussed everyday food items that are good for health, such as fruits, vegetables, grains, and dairy products, and stressed the importance of a balanced diet. special guest was invited to conduct a session on basic self-defense techniques. This was one of the most engaging parts of the event. The girls were taught simple moves they could use to protect themselves if they were ever in danger. The instructor demonstrated easy techniques that could be useful in real-life situations, making sure the girls felt confident and prepared.
There was another important discussion on the topic of "Good Touch and Bad Touch." This is a sensitive issue that many young girls are often unsure about. The volunteers explained the difference between a touch that is safe and one that is inappropriate, using simple demonstrations. This part of the event was designed to ensure that the girls understood how to recognize inappropriate behavior and how to report it if they ever found themselves in an uncomfortable situation, in order to include in the topic it also further emphasize the importance of safety and protection, a session on the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act was conducted. The volunteers explained the basic rights that young girls have under this law, ensuring they knew where to seek help in case of abuse. Pamphlets in Hindi were distributed to help the girls and their families understand the law better. Also, during the event was menstrual hygiene was also taken into consideration The volunteers spoke about how proper hygiene during menstruation is crucial for a healthy life. They explained the use of sanitary pads and the importance of maintaining cleanliness. We concluded it on a positive note with the distribution of nutritional and hygiene products, Bornvita bottle, oats biscuits, sanitary pads, and other nutritious essentials. This was done in the presence of Ms. Richa Upadhyay, who encouraged the girls to take care of their health and be mindful of their rights.
Event Outcome
The event was a great success. It not only provided valuable information on nutrition, self-defense, and personal safety but also empowered the girls by making them aware of their legal rights and the importance of good health and hygiene.
