International Conference IATELS

13-14th April, 2023

The 11th International Library and Information Professionals Summit has been a landmark now in the ILIPS Series. As you know the LIPS series was started in 2012 by Society for Library Professionals and had been organized at International Level since 2016.

The ILIP Summit on New and Innovative Services in Digital Era: Services and Practices, has brought together over 221 professionals from 11 countries across the globe, North and South, to share their experiences, to learn from one another and to debate the future development of Libraries in context of ownership to access.

Financial support was provided by RRRLF, DRDO, CSIR, Society for Library Professionals, CELECT, Turnitin, and EBC/SCC Online for ILIPS 2023.

The conference began with inauguration and Key Note delivered by Ms Liz Jolly, Chief Librarian, British Library, London with sharing her experiences about British Library. Followed by Inaugural address delivered by Prof. Ajay Pratap Singh, Director General RRRLF and discussing his experiences about public libraries in India. The inaugural address was given by Barbara Liason, IFLA President. The session also witnessed the address by Prof. K Mallikharjuna Babu, VC, Prof Awadesh Kumar, Pro-VC, Prof. Renu Luthra, Advisor to Chancellor of Galgotias University.

The conference was structured with three parallel facilitated technical sessions and presentations to allow all participants to enter into practical discussion. One Plenary Session discussion with eminent speakers from the profession provided particularly interesting insights into the Contemporary issues and SDG.

During these two days, the technical sessions sparked an interesting discussion on the themes like Emerging & Innovative Technology Applications in Libraries including Mobile, Web and Semantic Technology Application in Libraries. The sessions also witnessed discussions on subjects like Collection Development and Management in Electronic Age. Intense discussions were made on the issues of Re-envision of Library Spaces, Open Access in Libraries and how to enhance User Satisfaction in Libraries which are the need of the hour.

Each technical session also had invited talk by the eminent speakers from the profession. These included talk from Dr. Seema Ramprasad from UK, SLA President 2023..We had an interesting talk by various national and international speakers of Library Science

During these two days we had the product presentation from our industry partners like Refread, Balani Infotect, Turnitin and others.

The conference was a key activity for Galotatias University both as the first of its biennial conference and as an introduction of this new and growing network of professionals interested in new and innovative services in Libraries. It also helped to look beneath the surface of information science to explore its underpinnings and to learn from the diversity of experience that participants brought to the conference.

The conference is attended by a wide range of participants from information science practitioners, researchers, information technology professionals; content and knowledge managers working in the libraries and others interested in incorporating new library approaches into their work and policies.

The conference witnessed a large number of contributed papers in each technical Session. All greatly enjoyed the chance to meet like-minded people from so many countries, the opportunity to network and to learn from one another, and the chance to explore ideas.

In organizing the conference, we aimed to let people learn from one another. Facilitators played an important role in making this possible. Also, I would like to thank everyone who attended for giving so freely of themselves and making the conference so memorable and successful. Hope all made new friends and contacts and this can only contribute to the global development of our profession.
