Faculty Induction Programme
Event Date: 30th - 31st July 2024
The Induction began with a warm welcome to the attendees by the Advisor to the Chancellor, Dr. Renu Luthra. She addressed the gathering and intimated that while certain aspects of surveillance are implemented to keep the University functional, it is miniscule compared to the larger emphasis made on student centric approaches to educate students and the fact that the faculty must work on research interests to benefit themselves and the University symbiotically. The Registrar of the University, Dr.Nitin Gaur also extensively and exhaustively communicated the administrative roles and challenges in the University in addition to the core role of teaching and learning. He conveyed the message that the Management is there to support the faculty at every step of the way but that they should also work with the best spirits and best interests of the students and the University. He also gave a primer on promotion and growth aspects for the faculty. The Vice Chancellor, Dr. K. Mallikharjuna Babu also took precious time out of his schedule to meet and greet the new colleagues of School of Law and stressed on the need to maintain academic proficiency and to work in a collaborative manner while applying teaching learning techniques and also mentioned how the University is aiding the faculty growth through training programmes from reputed International institutions such as NTU. Dr. Rajnarayan Prushty, Dean Reaseach of Galgotias University also made a crisp presentation on the research initiatives of the University and made the faculty conversant with the research mandates, research committee and the various potential grants available for the faculty at the Institution. Dean,School of Law, Dr. Naresh Kumar Vats and Dr.Smitha Nizar, Associate Dean School of Law also interacted with the faculty and explained the mission, vision and programme objectives of the law department. The session on Day 1 closed with all the faculty introducing each other and were presented with a welcome token.
Day 2 began with the Controller of Examinations, Dr. Amitabh Bhattacharya taking the stage and addressing the new faculty about the basic tenets of examination stressing upon the integrity and confidentiality in the process and the need for disciplined participation of the colleagues in the execution of all work be it timely invigilation, evaluation or marks declaration on the webportal icloud. He also informed the faculty about various sessions in which the exams are held. The School of Law was also graced by Director, IQAC Prof. (Dr.) Meenakshi Sharma. Dr. Sharma informed the department about the various approaches towards quality assurance that is undertaken by the University at the Central level wherein the different departments contribute constructively. She apprised the faculty of the research paper publications required for personal and professional profiles and the various activities such as Quality Circle Meetings, Consultancy projects and patent filings. Following this, Dr. Anamika Pandey held a session on the Internal Complaints Committee and informed the attendants about the prompt action taken by the committee on such complaints and how the non-serious and false charges are dealt with. Dr. Pandey explained what is and what is covered under sexual harrassment and discussed a few misconceptions. The University Librarian and department members also interacted with the faculty and notified them about the various Library subscriptions with the University including Jstor, Manupatra, Heinonline, SCC Online etc. In addition to this, if there is any book required by the faculty, it can be requested and will be made available through delnet. The Induction programme was winded up by a conversation between the Dean, School of Law and all faculty members about the collaboration and expectation from the members of the department
