FDP on Quantitative and Qualitative

The School of Media and Communication Studies at Galgotias University successfully conducted a five-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) focused on advanced research software tools, SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) and ATLAS.ti, from May 6 to 10, 2024. The program aimed to enhance the research capabilities of faculty members by providing in-depth training in both quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
The event commenced with an inaugural session led by Dr. Pramod Pandey, Assistant Professor of the Faculty of School of Media and Communication Studies. He emphasized the growing importance of data literacy in academia and the pivotal role of software tools in conducting rigorous research.
Ms. Sangeeta Shrivastava took over the training on the fourth day, introducing ATLAS.ti, a premier software for qualitative data analysis. She discussed the significance of qualitative research and demonstrated how ATLAS.ti facilitates the organization and analysis of textual and multimedia data. Participants learned about project setup, data import, coding, and memo writing.

The second day and third day delved into more advanced SPSS functionalities. Dr. Pandey covered inferential statistics, regression analysis, and ANOVA, providing participants with comprehensive insights into complex statistical methods. Attendees participated in group activities, analyzing case studies to reinforce their understanding and application of these techniques.
