On September 12, the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism organized an impactful event titled “Ab Royegi Na Draupadi” to address the rising concern of rape and harassment against women in India. The event aimed to raise awareness and inspire collective action against these serious crimes.

The event began with a series of performances that used music, dance, and drama to portray the pain and struggles experienced by victims of rape and harassment. One of the key highlights was a powerful performance titled “Draupadi Cheer Haran,” which depicted the mythological story of Draupadi’s disrobing. This story symbolized the humiliation and suffering faced by women in today’s society who experience similar forms of abuse. The performance was emotional and set the tone for the rest of the event, emphasizing the urgent need for change.

Following the Draupadi performance, several dance and theater acts continued to explore the deep emotional impact of harassment and sexual violence on victims. These performances aimed to evoke empathy from the audience and bring attention to the fact that women are often left to suffer in silence. Along with these acts, poetry recitals were presented, where poets expressed the sorrow, anger, and challenges faced by victims. The powerful words further deepened the emotional connection with the audience.

"Ab Royegi Na Draupadi" Event Raises Awareness on Rape and Harassment in India

On 12 September, The Department of Mass Communication and journalism organized a powerful event, “Ab Royegi Na Draupadi,” to highlight the growing concern of rape cases and harassment against women in India. The title, drawn from the mythological figure of Draupadi, symbolized resilience and the fight for justice in the face of gender-based violence. The event sought to shed light on the increasing cases of sexual violence and harassment faced by women across India and emphasized the urgent need for societal and legal reforms to protect women and provide justice to survivors.

 The event started with the Head of the Department Dr. A Ram Pandey’s speech who appreciated and motivated the students for organizing the event in such a short time. On 12 September, The Department of Mass Communication and journalism organized a powerful event, “Ab Royegi Na Draupadi,” to highlight the growing concern of rape cases and harassment against women in India. 

The event started by paying tribute to goddess Saraswati with a Saraswati Vandana aimed to raise awareness and inspire people to take a stand against such heinous crimes. The event kicked off with a series of performances, including music and dance acts, that highlighted the struggles and pain faced by victims of rape and harassment. It began with a heart touching performance, “Draupadi Cheer Haran,” a depiction of the mythological story of Draupadi’s disrobing, symbolizing the suffering of women who face harassment and rape. This was followed by a series of dance and act. Poetry recitals added another layer of depth to the event, with powerful words that evoked feelings of empathy. Public engagement activities, such as interactive sessions encouraged audience participation and raised awareness about rape and harassment. The event also included a speech and an act on the Moumita rape case, which has been a sensationalized topic in the media recently. emphasizing the need for justice and support for victims and their families. The organizers and participants emphasized the need for collective action and a change in mindset to create a safer society. The event was ended with a power Pack Mardani dance which symbolized that the Draupadi is coming for enlightenment. 

Ab Royegi Na Draupadi concluded with a vote of thanks. The team members express their gratitude to the entire team of BAJMC 5th semester and their efforts in making this event a huge success. In closing course coordinator Dr. Manish Srivastava appreciated the students for their hard work and patience.
