MAHARISHI VALMIKI JAYANTI EVENT REPORT

On the occasion of Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti, the School of Hospitality and Tourism organized a special event to commemorate the life and teachings of the revered sage, Maharishi Valmiki. The event, held on the 28th of October 2023 from 1:30-2:30 pm, was not only a celebration of his birth anniversary but also a platform to delve into the invaluable life lessons he imparted to humanity. 

Students, faculty, and staff gathered to pay their respects to Maharishi Valmiki and gain insight into his life journey and wisdom. The highlight of the event was the discussion on the life lessons drawn from Maharishi Valmiki's teachings. The session explored his contributions to epic poetry, including his most celebrated work, the Ramayana. Participants engaged in a thoughtful dialogue, reflecting on the ethical, moral, and spiritual lessons embedded in his writings, which remain relevant to this day. 

The event served as an excellent platform for students to gain a deeper understanding of Maharishi Valmiki's contributions and the timeless lessons he shared with the world. It was a reminder of the significance of his teachings in fostering a sense of morality, righteousness, and spirituality. 

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS LINKED TO THE EVENT

SDG 4: Quality Education: The event promoted the dissemination of knowledge and life lessons from Maharishi Valmiki, contributing to the goal of providing inclusive and equitable quality education. 

SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions: Maharishi Valmiki's teachings often revolve around principles of justice, morality, and ethical conduct, aligning with the aim of promoting peaceful and just societies. 

SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities: Maharishi Valmiki's teachings emphasize equality and justice. By spreading his message, the event may contribute to reducing social and educational inequalities. 

SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities: The event fosters a sense of community and cultural preservation, which is essential for creating sustainable and inclusive cities and communities. 

SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being: While not a direct link, the moral and ethical lessons from Maharishi Valmiki's teachings can contribute to mental and emotional well-being by promoting values that lead to healthier, more fulfilling lives.


CHEF DAY AND BREAD DAY CELEBRATION

School of Hospitality and Tourism, Galgotias University celebrated Chef Day and Bread Day on 20th-21st Oct 2023 in Kitchen Lab from 10:30 am – 2:30pm. . Theme for this year is ‘Healthy food for the future’. It was conducted to highlight the Sustainable Development Goal- Good Health and Well Being. Chef emphasized on sustainability and the environment to ensure a healthy planet for future generations. He informed the students about the impact that production and consumption of food has on the environment.

This day encourages people to understand the importance of a chef in their lives and that cooking is an essential skill. Celebrating this day, allows people to acknowledge cooking as a profession and explore their culinary skills. The theme for International Chef's Day is “Growing Great Chefs” which has a strong focus on mentoring young minds and nurturing culinary talent.

Students were taught and given a demo of various types of healthy breads, soup and dishes prepared with the intention to showcase food prepared in the simplest way with simple/common ingredients.


World Tourism Day Event Report

World Tourism Day, which is observed on September 27th each year, is designated by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) to raise awareness about the role of tourism in various aspects of society and to encourage responsible and sustainable tourism practices. 

Galgotias University, School of Hospitality & Tourism celebrated World Tourism Day 2023 on 27th September with this year's UNWTO theme “TOURISM AND GREEN INVESTMENT”. 

The following Competitions were Organized:

PANSARI WORKSHOP

The School of Hospitality and Tourism at Galgotias University recently played host to a remarkable culinary event that left participants inspired, enlightened, and hungry for more. Organized by Pansari, a renowned name in the culinary industry, the masterclass workshop brought together aspiring chefs, culinary enthusiasts, and students eager to enhance their gastronomic skills. The event featured the culinary prowess of two distinguished chefs, Raman Kumar Mishra and Akash Saini, both from Pansari, who shared their expertise and passion in an engaging and informative manner.

The masterclass kickstarted with Chef Mishra's demonstration on the delicate art of creating intricate Indian dishes. With a deep dive into the historical significance of each spice and cooking method, participants gained insights into the essence of Indian cuisine. From perfectly spiced curries to fragrant biryanis, Chef Mishra's creations were a treat not just for the palate but for the intellect as well.

Complementing the traditional aspect, Chef Saini brought a contemporary flair to the proceedings. His presentation focused on fusion cuisine, where he expertly combined diverse culinary elements to create dishes that pushed the boundaries of flavor and presentation. 


MONIN INDIA WORKSHOP

A Masterclass Workshop on Trending Beverages was conducted by Monin India, a renowned name in the beverage industry, focusing on the latest trends in beverages at SOHT, Galgotias University on 14th Aug 2023 from 10am till 5pm. The workshop featured expert speakers Rahul Kumar and Apoorv Chamoli, who shared their insights and experiences with participants eager to gain valuable knowledge about trending beverages. 

The workshop began with an overview of Monin India's role in shaping the beverage industry. Participants learned about the brand's history, commitment to quality, and its influence on creating innovative and flavorful beverages. 

Rahul Kumar and Apoorv Chamoli elaborated on the current beverage trends that are capturing the attention of consumers globally. They discussed the shift towards healthier options, sustainability, and unique flavor combinations. 

The speakers showcased a variety of recipes that are in vogue, including mocktails, cocktails, and specialty beverages. They emphasized the importance of balance, presentation, and creativity in crafting these beverages. 

The speakers highlighted the growing demand for sustainable and ethically sourced ingredients in beverages. They provided insights into how Monin India integrates these principles into its operations. 

Participants gained a deep understanding of the ingredients currently making waves in the beverage industry and how to incorporate them into creative concoctions. Attendees learned mixology techniques that can be applied to craft unique and memorable beverages, aligning with the latest trends.


Flower Art

Our Centre of Excellence in Hospitality & Tourism - SOHT students attended workshop and practiced Flower arrangement with the help of dry flowers and foliage on 3rd February 2023.


Food Preparation for Holi Celebration

Our Centre of Excellence in Hospitality & Tourism - SOHT students prepared the Indian traditional delicacies based on the theme of ‘Holi Festival’ on 4th March 2023.

School of Hospitality & Tourism (SOHT), Galgotias University, Greater Noida, India is ranked among the “TOP-50 Best Hospitality and Hotel Management Schools in the World” for 2023.
