Vasudhaa (earth/world), iva (like), and kutumbakam (large/extended family) are the three Sanskrit terms that make up the phrase Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. The 5000 years old Indian civilization epitomises "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam," as it is the birthplace of the world's four major faiths and a kaleidoscope of key ideas, beliefs, ethnicities, cultures, eating habits, dressing manners and values. With a humancentric perspective at its foundation, India is engaged in the "Amritkaal," and is fostering to create a society that is futuristic, prosperous, inclusive and evolved.
"Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" is a concept which is found in Hindu texts such as the Maha Upanishad, which means "The World Is One Family". Vedic tradition mentions "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" meaning all living beings on the earth are a family. It is a philosophy that tries to foster an understanding that the whole of humanity is one family. It is a social philosophy emanating from a spiritual understanding that the whole of humanity is made of one life energy. If the Divine source is one then how are we as individuals different? If the whole ocean is one, then how is a drop of the ocean different from the ocean? If the drop is different from the ocean, how then it can ultimately be dissolved in the ocean?
