The M. A. English programme is designed to provide the student exposure to areas beyond the traditional conceptualizations of what constitutes English Literature in a regular programme. The addition of new areas of interest makes it different from the canon-bound M.A. English programmes offered by most Indian universities, and is employment-oriented.
Bachelor Degree with minimum 50% marks or equivalent. Students having CUET Score will be given preference in merit

Examine the complexities of the use of language in public sphere and the role of language in cultural institutions.

Ability to use the concepts and methods of linguistics to solve a problem with theoretical consequences

Apply domain-specific analytical knowledge to examine data of different languages and get involved in developing programs and/or software for lesser known and endangered languages

Acquire positive attitude towards interdisciplinary research especially in the areas of sociology, psychology, philosophy, computer science etc.

Document and create linguistic resources and searchable databases, especially of lesser-known languages which would be useful in community development.

Understand the dynamic relationship between language-in-schools and language-in society, and thereby contribute to the ongoing efforts of providing sustainable solutions which would lead to maintenance and development of linguistic diversity in India.
