Purpose

To minimize our environmental impact, ensure regulatory compliance, and encourage ethical waste management practices throughout our operations.

Policy

This policy applies to all facets of waste management at Galgotias University, encompassing the disposal of general waste, hazardous waste, electronic waste (e-waste), and other waste categories generated by the university. Furthermore, it extends to outsourced service providers and suppliers that play a critical role in our waste management practices.

Environmental Responsibility

  1. Waste Minimization: Galgotias University is dedicated to minimizing waste generation. We actively promote waste reduction through source reduction, recycling, and the responsible reuse of materials. All university departments and staff members are strongly encouraged to participate in waste minimization efforts.
  2. Recycling Programs: The university is committed to establish and maintain robust recycling programs for paper, plastics, glass, metal, and other recyclable materials. Conveniently located and properly labeled recycling bins will be available across the campus to facilitate participation.

Hazardous Waste Management

  1. Identification and Labeling: All hazardous waste generated on university premises is accurately identified, labeled, and stored separately from non-hazardous waste to prevent cross-contamination.
  2. Segregation and Disposal: Hazardous waste materials is managed in full compliance with relevant environmental regulations. The university will partner with licensed and certified disposal services for the handling and disposal of hazardous waste.

E-Waste Management

  1. Collection and Storage: Electronic waste (e-waste) generated by the university is collected, securely stored, and managed in strict accordance with e-waste disposal regulations.
  2. Responsible Disposal: The university is committed to collaborate with certified e-waste disposal companies to ensure the proper and environmentally responsible disposal of electronic waste, adhering to established environmental standards and guidelines.

Outsourced Services and Supply Chain Integration

  1. Contractual Obligations: The university acknowledges the importance of ensuring that its outsourced service providers share our commitment to responsible waste management. Contracts with waste disposal service providers will include explicit clauses mandating adherence to this disposal policy, environmental regulations, and ethical waste management practices.
  2. Supplier Responsibility: Suppliers engaged by Galgotias University are expected to comply with all applicable waste disposal regulations and to uphold responsible waste management practices. They are encouraged to minimize excessive packaging and waste throughout their supply chain processes.
