Launch of Digital Shakti Phase 5 by National Commission for Women and Cyberpeace Foundation

Faculty and students from Galgotias University attended the launch of "Digital Shakti Phase 5.0" by the National Commission of Women at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.

The National Commission for Women in collaboration with CyberPeace foundation through Digital Shakti campaign aims to equip women and young girls with critical cyber skills and knowledge of cutting edge technologies such as AI, ML, Blockchain, and Quantum Computing. With the help of the National Commission for Women, Digital Shakti which began in 2018 has empowered over 600,000 women and young girls, which has had a huge impact. The phase 5 of Digital Shakti has been launched with an ambitious target of reaching out to 1 million women and young girls.

The event featured Dr. SP Baghel and Shri Sanjay Seth, Ministers of State, Government of India, alongside NCW Chief Rekha Sharma, Member Secretary Smt. Meenakshi Negi, and Major Vineet from Cyber Peace Foundation. Honorable Chief guest of the event Prof. S.P. Baghel discussed the progress of science and technology over the decade while he specifically stressed on the women empowerment through cyber space and an effective coordination between bureaucracy, legislature, institutions and media. Ms Rekha Sharma, Chairman of NCW addressed the gathering during the inauguration of the event. In her address, she emphasized on the use of digital platforms for economic security and to fight against fraud and crimes. The event also witnessed a book launch on cyber security written by NCW Chief which covers various aspects of cybercrime, especially its importance for women and girls.

The event witnessed panel discussions on “Empowering women through cyber skills: bridging the gender gap in Tech and AI” and “Cyber wellness and Mental Health: Addressing Psychological Impact of Cyber threats”. The panel discussions were held constituting experts from health care sector, bureaucracy, media and multinational companies.

Dean, Prof. Anuradha Parashar attended the event along with faculty members and students of the school of Liberal Education. Attending the event was a transformative experience for the students and faculty members of the School of Liberal Education. The event provided invaluable insights into the critical issues of cyber security, particularly concerning women's safety online. Engaging with esteemed speakers like Dr. SP Baghel, Shri Sanjay Seth, and NCW Chief Rekha Sharma, along with participating in thought-provoking panel discussions on bridging the gender gap in tech and addressing the psychological impacts of cyber threats, enriched understanding of cyber wellness. This experience not only broadened the perspectives but also inspired to actively contribute to creating a safer digital environment for all. This engagement underscores commitments laid by its Chancellor, and CEO to stay abreast of crucial societal issues.
