Expert Talks on "Brain & Brainstem Disorders" and "Oral Cancer Research

Event Date: 05th December 2024

Department of Life Sciences, School of Biosciences and Technology organised two expert lectures on 3rd Dec 2024. The lectures detailed latest reseach on “Synaptic dysregulation in neurological disorders” by Dr. Sandesh Mohan, Research Scientist, Dept. of Communication Sciences & Disorders, Northwestern University, USA) and “NGS-based transcriptomics and miRNA profiling in oral cancer” by Dr. Virendra Singh, Assistant Professor, School of Biotechnology, Jawaharlal Nehru University. The seminars represented cutting-edge areas of research that hold great promise for advancing our understanding of these diseases. With further exploration and clinical application, these technologies could lead to more effective diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic strategies.

Department of Life Sciences, School of Biosciences and Technology, organised expert lecture on 3rd Dec 2024 at 10:00 am in room number B-209. The aim of this event to delve into the latest research and developments in the field of neuroscience, with a particular focus on neuronal physiology and oral cancer. This lecture series was proposed as part of our initiative to enhance the academic and professional growth of our students and faculty by inviting experts to share their knowledge and experiences. The session provided valuable insights into cutting-edge research and its implications for understanding brain function and neurological disorders.

Prof. Abhimanyu Kumar Jha, Dean, School of Bioscience and Technology introduced about the speakers and motivated the students for research. In Session I, The seminar lecture was delivered by Dr. Sandesh Mohan, Research Scientist Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders, Northwestern University, USA on the topic "Exploring Synaptic Dysregulation: Causes of Brain and Brainstem Disorders. Session II lecture was delivered by Dr. Virendra Singh, Assistant Professor, School of Biotechnology, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi-110067 on the topic “Next Generation Sequencing Based Trancriptomics and miRNAs Profiling in Oral Cancer”

This event aimed not only enrich our institution’s academic discourse but also inspire our audience to explore advanced research in neurophysiology. This lecture series supports in modern field of science and sustainable development goal SDG3 and SDG4. Finally vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Anuradha Singh, Department of Life Sciences. Session closed with some healthy discussion related to research.
