DRC– First Outreaching Program Disability Rights Awareness Program

Event Date: 29th November 2023

Ten students and three faculty members from the School of Law at Galgotias University embarked on a visit to Grads International School in Greater Noida. The purpose of the visit was to conduct a legal awareness outreach program centered around the theme of Disability and Inclusive Education. This event was meticulously organized by the Disability Rights Clinic in collaboration with Grads International School, Greater Noida.

The program commenced with an engaging and thought-provoking street play (Nukkad Natak) titled “Vastvikta,” skillfully performed by the students of the School of Law. This theatrical presentation aimed to shed light on the realities and challenges faced by individuals with disabilities in society.

Following the impactful performance, the attendees were treated to an enlightening talk delivered by the Esteemed Founder of the Disability Rights Clinic at Galgotias University, Dr. Smitha Nizar. Dr. Nizar’s discourse revolved around the critical subject of Disability and Inclusiveness, specifically emphasizing the fundamental right to education for individuals with disabilities.

Furthermore, as part of the program’s initiatives, dedicated volunteers from the Disability Rights Clinic took charge of distributing forms among the participating students and faculty members. Additionally, some forms were entrusted to the school principals with the intention to disseminate them among the families of students and employees. These forms were designed to gather essential data concerning students with varying types of disabilities, aiming to comprehensively understand the nature of these disabilities and the kind of support and assistance being provided by the school.

Overall, this collaborative endeavour between the School of Law at Galgotias University and Grads International School served as a platform to foster awareness, address societal challenges related to disabilities, and gather valuable insights aimed at promoting inclusive education.
