ADVANCED GEOTECHNICAL AND EARTH SCIENCE CENTER

The Advanced Geotechnical and Earth Science Center at Galgotias University has reached a significant milestone with the establishment of its Center of Excellence (CoE). The facility is designed to provide a comprehensive approach to soil and rock mechanics, going beyond routine testing to support advanced research and forensic engineering. The laboratory houses a wide range of equipment, from fundamental classification tools such as Atterberg Limit setups and Hydrometers to advanced testing systems like the Triaxial Test Apparatus, which enables precise measurement of shear strength under different drainage conditions for the design of dams, embankments, and high-rise foundations.

The Center is also equipped with High-Capacity UTM Machines, Electronic Consolidometers, Standard Penetration Test rigs, Plate Load Test setups, and Cone Penetrometers, along with facilities for rock mechanics including core drilling, cutting, grinding, and microscopic analysis. With this advanced infrastructure, the CoE at Galgotias University now offers consultancy and collaborative research services in areas such as foundation engineering, infrastructure safety, pavement and earthworks quality control, rock mass characterization, and seepage analysis, providing reliable data and technical expertise for safer and more sustainable infrastructure development.
