Observed internationally, the day provides a platform to enhance personal and social well-being through yoga. Since its launch in 2015, following a UN resolution, the initiative has seen growing global participation, with millions acknowledging yoga's many benefits.
Galgotias University also celebrated the day with great enthusiasm, focusing on yoga’s cultural and health advantages. Chancellor Sunil Galgotia inaugurated the event, emphasizing yoga's Indian roots and global reach. He praised Indian yoga gurus for integrating the practice into diverse lifestyles, benefiting health and stress management. Yoga Guru Thaan Singh guided students through various techniques, including pranayama, Bhujangasana (Cobra pose), Sirsasana (Headstand), and Pranava (Om chanting), stressing the importance of daily yoga. Program Coordinator Pranjali Mishra and Sports Officer Prashant Bhardwaj organized the event, ensuring its success. The celebration reinforced Galgotias University’s commitment to holistic wellness, blending physical fitness with the rich cultural heritage of yoga.

Since its launch by Prime Minister Modi in 2015 and adoption by the United Nations, the event has steadily gained global momentum, with millions recognizing the profound physical and mental benefits of yoga.
Galgotias University marked International Day of Yoga with great enthusiasm, focusing on the deep cultural and health benefits of the practice. The event was inaugurated by Chancellor Sunil Galgotia, who spoke about yoga’s rich roots in Indian heritage and its increasing global influence. He highlighted how Indian yoga gurus have successfully shared the practice with the world, making it a valuable part of various lifestyles due to its many health benefits, such as reducing stress, improving cardiovascular health, and strengthening resilience against illnesses.
The event featured Yoga Guru Thaan Singh from Galgotias University, who guided students through a variety of yoga techniques. These included pranayama (breathing exercises), Bhujangasana (Cobra pose), Sirsasana (Headstand), and the meditative practice of Pranava (Om chanting). Guru Singh emphasized the importance of regular yoga practice for maintaining physical and mental well-being and encouraged participants to incorporate these techniques into their daily routines for lasting benefits.
