Event Date: 25th July 2024

On 25th July 2024, the School of Hospitality and Tourism at Galgotias University, in collaboration with HCL Healthcare, organized a Time Management & Stress Management session for its students. The session was facilitated by Ms. Indu Chauhan, a trained psychologist specializing in psychoanalysis and psychotherapy from HCL Healthcare. The event aimed to provide students with practical skills and strategies to effectively manage their time and cope with stress, crucial aspects for success in the demanding hospitality and tourism sectors.

The session began with an introduction by Ms. Chauhan, who emphasized the importance of time management in achieving academic and professional goals. She discussed the common challenges students face in managing their time, such as procrastination, distractions, and unrealistic expectations. Ms. Chauhan then introduced practical techniques for overcoming these challenges, including prioritization, setting SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound), and time-blocking. She highlighted the importance of creating a balanced schedule that allocates time for studies, extracurricular activities, and personal well-being.

Transitioning to stress management, Ms. Chauhan explained the psychological and physiological aspects of stress, including how it manifests and affects an individual's overall health. She discussed the sources of stress that students commonly encounter, such as academic pressures, social challenges, and future career uncertainties. To help students cope with these stressors, she introduced various stress management techniques, including mindfulness, deep breathing exercises, and progressive muscle relaxation. Ms. Chauhan also emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including proper nutrition, regular physical activity, and adequate sleep, as foundational elements of stress management.

The session was designed to be interactive, encouraging students to share their experiences and challenges. This open dialogue allowed Ms. Chauhan to provide personalized advice and solutions tailored to the students' specific situations. She also addressed common misconceptions about stress and time management, debunking myths and providing evidence-based strategies.

One of the key highlights of the session was the focus on building resilience. Ms. Chauhan discussed how students can develop a growth mindset, view challenges as opportunities for growth, and build a supportive network of peers and mentors. She emphasized that resilience is a crucial skill not only for managing stress but also for navigating the complexities of the hospitality and tourism industries.

The session concluded with a Q&A segment, where students had the opportunity to ask specific questions and receive personalized guidance from Ms. Chauhan. The students expressed their appreciation for the practical insights and actionable strategies shared during the session. The event was well-received, with students noting the relevance and applicability of the skills and techniques discussed.

Overall, the Time Management & Stress Management session was a valuable addition to the students' educational experience, providing them with essential tools to enhance their academic performance and personal well-being. The School of Hospitality and Tourism at Galgotias University, along with HCL Healthcare, plans to continue offering such enriching sessions to support the holistic development of its students.
