Satyagrah Day (Jallianwala Bagh Martyrs Day)

Jallianwala Bagh Martyrs Day marks the solemn remembrance of the horrific massacre that occurred on April 13, 1919, in the Jallianwala Bagh public garden in Amritsar, Punjab, India. On that day, British colonial troops, under the command of Brigadier General Reginald Dyer, opened fire on a crowd of unarmed Indian civilians who had gathered at the garden to peacefully protest against British colonial rule and the arrest of two nationalist leaders.
The indiscriminate shooting continued for around ten minutes, resulting in hundreds of deaths and injuries, including women and children. The massacre shocked the nation and galvanized the Indian independence movement, leading to widespread condemnation of British colonial rule and fueling the demand for self-governance
On the occasion of “Satyagrah Day (Jallianwala Bagh Martyrs Day)” , a programme was arranged in the Seminar Hall to commemorate the Anniversary of Satyagrah Day on 13.04.2024. Satyagrah Day commemorates the events of April 13, 1919, when British troops under the command of General Reginald Dyer opened fire on thousands of unarmed civilians who had gathered at Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar, Punjab, to peacefully protest against oppressive British policies. The massacre resulted in the death of hundreds, including men, women, and children, and left a lasting scar on the collective consciousness of the Indian nation.
On this occasions, The Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Avdhesh Kumar, Dr. Kuldeep Kumar Kaswan, Dr. Sunil Kumar, Dr. Ashok Kumar Yadav, Dr. Arvind kumar, Mr. Tarachand Verma, Mr. Anurag Gupta, Mr. Pankaj Sharma and more than 35 students, paid tribute to the brave souls who laid down their lives for the cause of freedom by keeping silence for two minutes. National Integrity Pledge and National Pledge were taken by all the participants.
