1. Application
This policy is applicable to students,
staff, and visitors of Galgotias University.
2. Purpose
To ensure the inclusion and full
participation of individuals with disabilities by providing reasonable
accommodations in various aspects of life, including employment, education,
public services, and campus accessibility.
3. Policy Statement
Galgotias University is committed to equal
opportunity and non-discrimination against individuals with disabilities. The
University has established systems to ensure that persons with disabilities
receive the necessary accommodations to participate fully in the academic and
social environment.
To make the University disability-friendly,
the following measures have been implemented:
- All academic, administrative buildings, and libraries are
connected through ramps.
- Elevators are available in all multistory buildings.
- Special employment opportunities are explored for students with
disabilities.
- Accessible toilets have been constructed in existing buildings.
4. Accommodation Process
- Every student with a disability must submit valid medical
documentation to the Registrar of the University.
- The Registrar forwards the request to the Dean, Student
Welfare.
- The Dean, Student Welfare presents the request to the
University Committee on Disability Accommodations.
- The committee evaluates the request and forwards
recommendations to the Vice Chancellor for final approval.
- Upon approval, the concerned department must implement the
necessary arrangements within 10 working days.
- The student will be notified about the decision within 10
working days from the date of approval.
5. Appeal Process
If a student disagrees with the decision
regarding their accommodation request, they have the right to appeal.
- The appeal must be submitted in writing to the Dean, Student
Welfare within 10 working days of receiving the decision.
- The Dean may collect additional relevant information and will
forward the recommendation to the Vice Chancellor within 15 working days.
- The Vice Chancellor’s decision will be communicated within 15
working days and shall be final.
6. Confidentiality of Medical
Information
- All medical information is treated with strict confidentiality.
- Medical records are maintained separately from regular academic
files and stored in the student’s confidential dossier.
- Details of diagnoses or treatments will not be disclosed to
anyone without explicit consent.
- If a student chooses to share their medical information, it
will be treated as their personal choice and still handled with
confidentiality.
