The School of Computer Applications and Technology (SCAT), Galgotias University successfully organized an insightful Training Session on the “Implementation of Outcome-Based Education in Simple Steps" on February 23, 2024. The session took place from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM in seminar hall GU_A-107. The session was specifically designed as an in-house training program aimed at enhancing faculty understanding and implementation of outcome-based education principles. Outcome-based education focuses on defining specific learning outcomes first, then designing curriculum, instruction, and assessment to achieve those outcomes. It emphasizes student mastery of skills and knowledge, aligning education with real-world competencies and measurable results.
Dr. Vineeta Khemchandani (Professor and Dean, SCAT), led the session as the expert speaker. With her vast experience and profound expertise in education, Dr. Khemchandani delved into various crucial aspects of outcome-based education during her talk. She elucidated pivotal topics including Student-Centered Learning, Adaptation Techniques, Teaching/Learning Techniques, Outcome Evaluation, and Assessment Methods.
Throughout the training session, Dr. Vineeta Khemchandani adeptly navigated through the complexities of outcome-based education, elucidating its principles in a simplified manner. Her comprehensive coverage of the subject matter provided attendees with valuable insights and practical strategies to integrate outcome-based education into their teaching methodologies effectively.
A significant component of the training session was the interactive nature of the event. The pre and post-training Q&A sessions facilitated a dynamic exchange of ideas and fostered an environment conducive to learning and clarification. Faculty members enthusiastically engaged with Dr. Vineeta Khemchandani, leveraging the opportunity to seek clarification on various aspects of outcome-based education. These interactive sessions not only enhanced understanding but also encouraged critical thinking and reflection among the participants.
The training session was attended by faculty members from SCAT and SCSE schools, all of whom actively participated and contributed to the discussions. The collective enthusiasm and engagement demonstrated the commitment of the faculty towards embracing innovative pedagogical approaches to enhance student learning outcomes
