Mother Dairy Visit

An educational visit to Mother Dairy was organized by Galgotias school of Nursing under the guidance of Dr. Lekha Bist (Dean) as part of their curriculum to provide students with practical exposure to the dairy industry, manufacturing processes, and the supply chain of dairy products. The Mother Dairy Plant was at New Parparganj Road, Block- D, New Delhi which was established in 1974 under the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). This visit aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world industrial practices. A total of 26 students of B.Sc Nursing 5 th Semester were accompanied by 4 faculties to the Dairy Plant. The visit began with an orientation session conducted by Mrs. Neha. The session provided a complete detailed overview of the company’s history, vision, mission, and its contribution to India’s dairy sector. Students were also informed about Mother Dairy’s role in empowering farmers and fostering rural development. The students were taken on a guided tour by Mrs. Neha of the processing plant. There the students were given in depth view of the process or collection, homogenization, standardization, pasteurization and distribution process of milk. They also brief about the laboratory process for testing quality of milk and killing harmful bacteria while retaining the milk’s nutritional value. The officials also explained us that, how the facility adheres to the standards for food safety, maintaining international quality benchmarks.
They also discussed the role of automation and modern technology in dairy processing, challenges faced by the dairy industry, such as supply chain management and fluctuating demand. At the end the staff distributed us some products of mother dairy. The educational visit to Mother Dairy was a successful and enriching experience for the students. The students gained valuable insights about the significance of Mother Dairy Milk Plant, its processing, quality assurance and their products which include milk, cultured products, ice creams, paneer, ghee, edible oils, fruits and vegetables, frozen vegetables, pulses, and processed food.
