International Literacy Day 2024

Galgotias University, Greater Noida, have Celebrated the International Literacy Day on 8th September 2024. The event, organized by the National Service Scheme (NSS) under the leadership of NSS Program Officer Dr. Arvind Kumar.
Dr. Arvind Kumar, Program Officer,NSS Unit-1, Galgotias University, said, today, we all have gathered here on the special occasion of World Literacy Day, which is celebrated every year on 8 September all over the world. The main objective of this day is to spread awareness on the importance of education and literacy. Literacy is not limited to reading and writing but it plays an important role in giving the right direction to our life, becoming self-reliant and bringing positive change in the society. Even today, crores of people around the world are deprived of education, most of whom are women, children and come from the poor class. In such a situation, World Literacy Day helps us to ensure that every person, irrespective of age, class or gender, gets equal right to education. World Literacy Day reminds us what we should do to promote education. Through various programs and campaigns on World Literacy Day, people are made aware of the importance of literacy and they are motivated to get educated. Let us all together create a society where every person can be educated and empowered. Only education can take our country and the world towards a bright future.
Event Outcome
"Promoting multilingual education: Literacy for mutual understanding and peace" The more people in any country receive education, the better will be the future and environment of that country. The word literacy comes from literate, which means - to be educated. The purpose of International Literacy Day is to inspire the world's population to make efforts to make them literate
