Inaugural Session of Naitik Bharat by Mr. Prabhat Kumar

School of Business organized an interactive session on the inauguration of the Centre of Ethics under the leadership of Dr. Prabhat Kumar, (IAS-Retired), at Galgotias University. The centre is inspired by the theme of Naitik Bharat.
The event commenced with an opening speech by Vice Chancellor, Dr. Babu's inspiring words to students to uphold ethics in the age of information and artificial intelligence. He emphasized on the importance of maintaining ethical standards and contributing towards the development of India, guided by the principles of ethics promoted by the Centre of Ethics (GCFE) at Galgotias University.
In an inspiring speech, Prof. (Dr.) Renu Luthra, Advisor to the Chancellor, highlighted the paradigm shift in work and employment due to artificial intelligence, particularly generative AI. She stressed the importance of maintaining genuineness amidst technological advancements.
Dr. Avadhesh Kumar, Pro-Vice Chancellor, discussed the systematic enhancement of process efficiency through information and artificial intelligence, aiming to make the country “atma-nirbhar”, self-reliant. He emphasized that the students should be able to upgrade their skills in alignment with the evolving era and context.
Dr. Prabhat Kumar, Advisor to the Chancellor, quoted an anecdote by Swami Vivekananda, emphasizing the importance of embodying cultural values for a nation's sustenance. He discussed the impact of artificial intelligence on work culture and economy, highlighting the role of ethics and allied disciplines in creating a harmonious society.
Chief Guest, Shri Prabhat Kumar, Former Cabinet Secretary, Govt of India and First Governor of Jharkhand, (Retd. IAS) shared valuable insights on ethics, including his personal journey and experiences, the humane and rational aspects of ethical conduct, and principles to guide ethical decision-making in various situations.

Initially aspired to become a nuclear scientist. He was inspired by renowned individuals like Meghnaad Saha, Harivanshrai Bachchan, Mahadevi Verma, Firaq Gorakhpuri, among others. However, he achieved 1st rank in one the toughest examinations in the country, the Civil Services Examination, conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.

In the context of Covid-19 lockdown, he remembered the story about an on-duty constable in Malappuram district of Kerala who donated his blood to a pregnant woman who was in need of a caesarean delivery. Due to a shortage of blood from healthy donors in blood banks, the constable's act of kindness was acknowledged. Shri Prabhat Kumar emphasized the humane and rational aspects of ethics.
