Growing a Greener Future: International Worker’s Day Tree Plantation Drive

Galgotias University celebrated International Worker’s Day with a special tree plantation event on the university campus. The event aimed to raise awareness about environmental sustainability, engage the university community in a meaningful activity, and contribute to the beautification of the campus.

On the occasion of International Worker’s Day, a tree plantation event was organized at Galgotias University to promote environmental sustainability and raise awareness about the importance of tree planting. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Yogesh Chauhan, an IEEE Fellow, along with Prof. (Dr.) Avadhesh Kumar, Pro-Vice Chancellor, faculty members, NCC cadets and other students.

Dr. Chauhan emphasized the significance of taking care of the environment and highlighted the benefits of tree plantation for sustainable development. He mentioned that planting trees helps in reducing air pollution, conserving water, providing habitat for wildlife, and mitigating climate change. Trees also enhance the beauty of the surroundings and contribute to a healthier ecosystem.

On 1st May 2024, Wednesday, Galgotias University, Uttar Pradesh India celebrated International Worker’s day with a special tree plantation event on the university campus. The event aimed to raise awareness about environmental sustainability, engage the university community in a meaningful activity, and contribute to the beautification of the campus.

The event began with an opening ceremony where the Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Singh Chauhan, an esteemed Professor from IIT Kanpur and a distinguished IEEE Fellow addressed the participants and emphasized the importance of workers, both in terms of human work and nature's work in sustaining life on Earth. Subsequently, He engaged with the university's National Cadet Corps (NCC) head, along with enthusiastic students from various departments. His interaction with the NCC head and students aimed to inspire and guide them towards fruitful future endeavors, particularly in association with IEEE UP Section.

Students, faculty members, and staff participated in the tree plantation activity. They were divided into groups and provided with saplings of native tree species. Each group was assigned a designated area on the campus where they planted the trees with guidance from the university's horticulture team.

In between planting sessions, interactive sessions were conducted to educate participants about the benefits of tree planting, sustainable practices, and the role of trees in environmental conservation. Refreshments were provided to all participants, creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere for networking and socializing. Participants shared their experiences and thoughts on the importance of environmental conservation.
