Event Date: 15th October 2024
The NAARI UTTHAN Self-Help Group (SHG), spearheaded by School of Agriculture, Galgotias University, aims to empower women in Kanarsa Kanarsi village through collective action and sustainable livelihood initiatives. This SHG, comprising 10-20 members, focuses on fostering savings, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship. Its objectives include promoting women’s empowerment, enhancing income-generation capabilities, and facilitating access to financial resources via bank linkages and government schemes like NRLM and Mudra Yojana.
Planned activities encompass skill development in areas such as handicrafts, organic farming, and food processing, with collaborations with vocational institutes for hands-on training. Income-generating initiatives include collective farming, livestock rearing, traditional handicrafts, and small businesses like tailoring units and food stalls. Marketing and sales strategies will emphasize brand development, participation in fairs, and leveraging e-commerce platforms.
With a proposed budget of ₹2,10,000, funds will support training, raw materials, and fieldworker remuneration. Capacity-building workshops will cover leadership, group management, and health awareness, fostering holistic growth. Regular savings meetings and credit expansion will strengthen financial independence.
Expected outcomes include improved income, savings, and social standing for members, alongside long-term socio-economic change in the community. Monitoring mechanisms will ensure progress through monthly reviews and annual assessments. The project represents a meaningful CSR initiative by Galgotias University.
