Event Content-On January 29, 2023, the Department of Mechanical Engineering organised an industry visit for the 2nd and 3rd year B. Tech students to Haier India Appliances Pvt. Ltd in Greater Noida. Renowned for its expertise in consumer durables manufacturing, Haier offers a diverse range of products, including Refrigerators, Air Conditioners, Washing Machines, Wine Cellars, Deep Freezers, Water Heaters, LED TVs, and commercial Air Conditioners. As the world's no.1 brand in Refrigeration appliances, Home Laundry appliances, Freezer, and Wine Chillers, Haier is celebrated for its ground breaking products such as Bottom Mounted (BMR) and French door Refrigerators, Washing Machines with innovations like Self Clean Technology (SCT) and Near Zero Pressure (NZP), and Water Heaters with shockproof technology.

Objective:The primary aim of the industry visit was to provide students with practical insights into industrial processes and operations within the manufacturing industry. This initiative sought to expose students to real-world industrial practices, enhance their comprehension of mechanical engineering concepts, and offer them a firsthand opportunity to witness the application of theoretical knowledge in a practical setting.

Event Details: The event commenced at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, where students gathered for a briefing on the visit's significance. Divided into groups, each group was assigned a faculty member (Dr. Pankaj kr. Chauhan and Dr. Mayur Pratap Singh) as a guide. Upon reaching Haier India Appliances Pvt. Ltd, students received a warm welcome and refreshments from the company's representatives and were provided with an overview of the company's history, vision, and industry position. A guided tour of the manufacturing and injection molding units followed, led by experienced technicians and engineers.

During the visit, students engaged in hands-on experiences of various manufacturing processes, including punching, blanking, and injection molding, at the company's manufacturing facility. They gained insights into the fundamentals of process management and supply chain management, connecting these concepts with their classroom learnings.

Interaction and Q&A Session: Post-tour, students had the opportunity to interact with the company's engineers and technicians. Engaging in discussions, they posed questions related to manufacturing techniques, machinery usage, maintenance procedures, and career opportunities in the industry. The company's representatives patiently addressed all queries, providing valuable insights and advice.

Conclusion: The industry visit to Haier India Appliances Pvt. Ltd proved to be an enriching experience for the B.Tech students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
