BAL UDAY Legal Awareness Workshop

A Legal Awareness Workshop, jointly organized by Bal-Uday and the Legal Aid Clinic, School of Law, Galgotias University, was held on 7th December 2024 at Palika Vihar, Diplomatic Enclave, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. This workshop aimed to empower children and women by educating them about their rights under the Juvenile Justice (J.J.) Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
Activities included legal education sessions, a skit, and meditation exercises to enhance emotional well-being, along with the distribution of reference materials like pamphlets and diaries.
The BAL UDAY Legal Awareness Workshop was conducted on 7th December 2024, with the goal of educating children and women about their legal rights and ensuring their safety. Organized at Palika Vihar, Diplomatic Enclave, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, this initiative was a collaboration between Bal-Uday and the Legal Aid Clinic, School of Law, Galgotias University.
The workshop was guided by Prof. Kumar Kunal and Prof. Ajay Pratap, with Bal- Uday trustees and community leaders contributing their insights. Focused on creating awareness about the Juvenile Justice (J.J.) Act and the POCSO Act, the session included the distribution of resource materials such as pamphlets, pens, diaries, T-shirts, and posters.
Key highlights of the event included an engaging skit by volunteers to illustrate practical ways to avoid unsafe situations and a meditation session designed to help children build resilience and manage stress. Volunteers further inspired confidence through motivational stories, empowering participants to safeguard their rights and seek help through the child helpline number 1098.
The workshop successfully fostered legal awareness among participants, empowering them with practical knowledge and tools for self-reliance and protection.
Event Outcome:
The workshop significantly enhanced legal awareness among children and women, equipping them with knowledge about their rights under the J.J. Act and the POCSO Act. Participants were trained to recognize and avoid unsafe situations, manage stress through meditation, and access support via the child helpline number 1098.
