An Expert Talk on Semiconductor -A Hightech Industry
Event Date: 19th September 2024
Department of Electrical, Electronics & Communication Engineering conducted an expert talk on “Semiconductor -A Hightech Industry” for the students, faculty members and lab technicians at Galgotias University on 27th September, 2024 at 12:30 pm in hybrid mode. The resource person for this event was Mr. Wolfgang Steiner, Managing Director, Air Liquide Electronics, GmbH.
5.Event Detailed Description- Max 500 words
India's semiconductor market is rapidly emerging as a global hub, driven by growing demand for electronic devices, government incentives, and a push toward self-reliance in chip manufacturing. With initiatives like "Make in India" and the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, the country is witnessing increased investments in the sector. The rise of 5G, electric vehicles, and Industry 4.0 further amplifies the need for advanced semiconductors. Collaborations between industry leaders, academia, and the government are critical in positioning India as a key player in the global semiconductor ecosystem, fostering innovation, manufacturing, and talent development.
An expert talk on the “Semiconductor -A Hightech Industry” was successfully conducted by the Department of Electrical, Electronics & Communication Engineering (DEECE) on September 27th, 2024 at 12:30 pm in hybrid mode. The speaker was Mr. Wolfgang Steiner, Managing Director, Air Liquide Electronics, GmbH.
The event was graced by Dr. Sudhir Kumar Singh, Dean Engineering, Dr. Anshul Soni, Dean Civil Engineering and Dr. Meenakshi Awsathi, Prof. & Head, DEECE, Galgotias University. Around 420 participants joined the talk including Faculty members and staff. The event was organized by Prof. Meenakshi Awasthi and Dr. Komal Agrawal, DEECE. It was volunteered by the students of DEECE, Deepak Kumar, Md. Adnan Khan, Manish Mandal and Tanusha.
Mr. Steiner focussed on 1. History of semiconductors 2. Business models and risks 3. Markets 4. Drivers of the Semiconductor industry 5. From sand to a Semiconductor product 6. In a Semiconductor factory - Fab 7. How to produce a Semiconductor chip 8. The evil of a Semiconductor FAB.
Event Outcome: The discussion was about how semiconductors are a growing market full of innovations and how India's semiconductor market is rapidly emerging as a global hub, driven by the growing demand for electronic devices, government incentives, and a push toward self-reliance in chip manufacturing, with initiatives like "Make in India" and the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme.
