Alzheimer’s Day

On 30th September, the B.Sc. Nursing 3rd semester students of GSON (Galgotias School of Nursing) College organized an awareness program in observance of World Alzheimer’s Day, held at GIIMS Hospital. The objective of the event was to spread awareness about Alzheimer’s disease, its symptoms, prevention, and care, as well as to promote understanding and support for individuals living with the condition.
Objective of the Program:
The awareness program aimed to educate patients, their families, hospital staff, and the general public about Alzheimer’s disease. The focus was on early detection, care strategies, and the importance of mental health care for the elderly.
Program Overview:
The event commenced at 10:00 AMin the hospital’s OPD (Out Patient Department). All the attendees gathered in OPD. Asst. Prof. Kuldeep Raghuvanshi
(GSON), started the session on increasing prevalence of Alzheimer’s disease globally and the need for early diagnosis and appropriate management.
Following the inauguration, the students presented several engaging activities, including:
- PowerPoint Presentation:A detailed presentation was conducted, focusing on the causes, risk factors, early signs, and stages of Alzheimer’s disease. This was followed by discussions on the importance of cognitive health and how Alzheimer’s can impact both the patient and their caregivers.
- Educational Skit:A short skit performed by the nursing students demonstrated a real-life scenario of an elderly patient with Alzheimer’s and how families can provide compassionate care. The skit was well-received and sparked empathy among the audience.
- Poster Exhibition:An exhibition was organized showcasing creative posters designed by the students. The posters conveyed critical information about Alzheimer’s disease in simple, visually appealing formats, making it easy for visitors to grasp complex medical concepts.
- Interactive Session:The audience was encouraged to ask questions about Alzheimer’s, which led to an interactive session between the students, healthcare professionals, and attendees. Common myths about the disease were addressed, and practical tips for caregiving were provided.
Outcome of the Event:
The program successfully raised awareness about Alzheimer’s disease among the hospital community. Many attendees expressed their gratitude for the educational content provided, with a number of patients and family members sharing their personal experiences.

The Alzheimer’s Day Awareness Program organized by the B.Sc. Nursing 3rd semester students was a resounding success. It fostered a sense of community and empathy, while also imparting crucial information about Alzheimer’s disease. Events like this serve as a vital reminder of the importance of awareness and education in the healthcare sector, especially when it comes to conditions affecting the aging population.
Event Outcome - Event was a great success which shows a lot of hard work and strength of group who worked altogether to achieve goal.
